patience that love demands

Paige: I vow to help you love life, to always hold you with tenderness and to have the patience that love demands, to speak when words are needed and to share the silence when they are not and to live within the warmth of your heart and always call it home.
Leo: I vow to fiercely love you in all your forms, now and forever. I promise to never forget that this is a once in a lifetime love.

The most beautiful, realistic, raw, sexy, captivating, legendary for my heart and soul movie I've seen in a very long time.
If you don't already know, The Vow is a movie about how Paige (wife) and Leo (husband) get into a car accident after a movie date. She goes into a coma and when she wakes up, she has severe memory loss. Leo fights fiercely and tries to win his own wife's heart again.

Most of the scenes early in the film (before the accident)reminded me a lot of Stephen and I. He tickles her, they cuddle, they smirk, they're sarcastic and completely in love. It was so painful to watch him go through the agony of his own wife not even knowing who he is. They had a beautiful and fun marriage and one accident. Bam. He is a complete stranger. This story touched my heart to see that movies can still have a message with impact. A message about true commitment, faith, patience and persistence. I saw godly character in the husbands part with the way he carried on through the film. In the film his heart was always in the right place. He continued to be madly in love with her and it just pierced right through me.

It first made me sad to think of this actually happening to me. (Probably the main reason I was crying so much during the film). Stephen and I are all happy in love and suddenly a tragic accident and we have to start from scratch. It's really just mind boggling to me the immense faith that one of us would have to have. It made my stomach turn as I put myself in the husbands shoes...watching her remember friends from high school and her ex but not her own husband. It still makes my stomach sick with sadness but luckily this was just a movie and secondly...the story this was based off of had a much happier ending. The couple who's love story was inspired by are actually Christians. (Although she never regained her memory of the past year of her husband. ) they are still happily married with two children.

  1. i cannot wait to see this movie! ahhh! :)
