peachy keen

I finally saved enough tip money to get my quill pen! I have so many letters to write but I'm afraid I have to use a regular pen because writing with the quill is very difficult. After one word I have to dip it in ink again so one sentence will take much too long for how many letters I have to write. Anyone good at using a quill pen? I would appreciate your help...I must be doing something wrong because dipping it in ink after every word doesn't seem logical to me. hmmm.

bright moon

The sky is turning into a darker shade of gray. The trees that surround my house are beckoning me. Shall we go outside?

Today at school we had a well known hair stylist named Yosh Toya do a presentation in our theory class. He is in his mid 70's and is "retired" but still works behind a chair once in a while but gives back to the industry by speaking in cosmetology schools. He was the cutest things I have ever seen with a pure smile that came from his heart and his broken English. He told us about his career and how much doing hair means to him. I love hearing people talk about what they do with such a passion it makes me teary eyed. Yosh gave us a lot of great tips about how to be successful in this business. He actually reminded me of my grandfather and it was very comforting and fun to have him at our school. Yosh has done hair for 49 years and now loves fishing and traveling with his beautiful wife. He said, "being a hair stylist will make your many dreams come true. " My dreams are already coming true. I am filled with so much inspiration, joy and excitement I feel like screaming and I'm already tearing up as I type this. I'm very blessed to be so passionate about my career and my dreams. Some people don't want to get up in the morning. My heart breaks for them.

grandma's hidden gems

I'm sorry I haven't had any interesting posts lately but school has been really busy and my grandparent's computer is very slow and my time on the computer here is slim to none.

I did manage to take some cute photos of what I call "hidden gems". Ordinary things that when photographed or appreciated....are beautiful!

I miss my dogs and my computer but school is school and I'm here to learn as much as I can.

Hope you all are having a lovely week. How are you guys?! I miss you!

Lace and drawings

drawings for the soul

Having a pretty Saturday morning: Sipping tea and finding new illustraters that I adore. We have a birthday today and a "get to know you" class at church tomorrow because I'm new. And if I have time I need to go to the library to return my books. Hope all is well with all of you.

a wounded deer leaps highest

A wounded deer leaps highest,
I've heard the hunter tell;
'Tis but the ecstasy of death,
And then the brake is still.

The smitten rock that gushes,
The trampled steel that springs:
A cheek is always redder
Just where the hectic stings!

Mirth is mail of anguish,
In which its cautious arm
Lest anybody spy the blood
And, "you're hurt" exclaim

the never ending battle

First of all...I can't believe that I have 29 followers. I made this blog to get my creative juices flowing again and something to do when I was bored. But to my surprise I've not only been more creative but I've come out with a few friends that I really love! So: I'm having a little issue right now with some motivation.

I've been overweight since I can remember. I was always the pretty chubby girl in school and always had friends but didn't really see that I was chubby until later on in life. I was probably over 200 pounds in Junior High and I thinned a lot in High School. I look at pictures of myself in early High School and thank God for how far I've come but I also look at pictures of me later in High School and think, "dang! i look really gorgeous!'. "I DO look so much prettier when I'm thinner." These thoughts are motivating yet discouraging. Since I've started beauty school I've put most of the weight back on. ( no P.E, no cute guys or girls to impress and no time ). Another thing is...I want to loose weight again to make me happy and my life easier but at the same time I'm stubborn and don't want to loose because I know the attention I get. Guys liked me more in High School because I was thinner and the stubborn part of me won't loose because I want someone who will love me if I'm big or small. You know? Maybe you guys can share some positive thoughts or give me some motivation to start loosing again! I don't want to waste my roaring 20's soon to come!!! I don't know when I can fit a workout in my schedule and it gets rather difficult to keep going. Any ideas, words? As you will see in some of these photos my body has gone through hell going small and then big, small and then big. I need to do this.

now: and looking like when I started.

This makes me really sad.

p.s I just noticed that in all the pictures I chose to show you girls...I'm wearing a floral print in every single one. haha. That made me smile.

outside my window

There are hardly any beautiful trees in Southern California..but luckily there are some outside my window. In my room...I'm in Washington. Thee end.

I just got back to school and I've been super duper busy! Commuting back in forth between cities, clients, on the go!!!

P.S I finally got a memory card for Goldie so when I'm not in school I will be taking pictures again.

a diamond day: a story

I felt a shake and maybe a cry; the air was crisp but no one had died. I suddenly felt soft fur against my feet and I let out a shiver. There I lay with a family of foxes guarding my sleep and against my shoulder.

Waiting patiently to awake from my dream; they lead me to a winding path covered with green. I thanked them and they agreed. The sound of a babbling brook and animals pattering; I had to see what else might be. The leaves crunching under my feet, the foxes smiling and the child that lived along the lane made me forget that nothing was to be gained.

The family of foxes let out a sigh and said, "we have arrived."

They lead me further into the wood and a house came into view. As we walked closer the trees looked as though they were giving us a show, making the house seem more beautiful as it was so.

There lay a table set for tea, especially made for me. The foxes suggested we play outside; they know the outside. We lay upon the grass so long and tall. I squinted at the sun and managed a smile; my smile grew wider as some horses ran by. Another place to be, just a word to say. Just another love to give and a diamond day.

letters from the past Vol. 1

Traveling polar bear

She was the fairest princess of them all with long dark hair and beautiful green eyes. She was so pure at heart that the little princess could clearly see what others could not.

She knew nothing

"She as yet knew nothing of the crown but it's flowers. She did not foresee that she was soon to feel the crown's dreadful weight."

the owl diary

I know this girl with a beautiful heart and a beautiful mind and she just happens to be the author of The Owl Diary.
Her blog contains beautiful photography, great Playlists, inspiring thoughts and of course her wonderful sense of fashion. She has also recently shared one of her own small video documentary based on the 50 People 1 Question. I love this creative girl and I know you will love her blog! She is also very sweet and always comments back in a hurry!!! Check it out!

A short Interview with Krissie:

When did you start your blog?
October 2008, although I had a blog before The Owl Diary.

What inspires you?
An abundance of things. Jesus, traveling & seeing new things, pretty food, magazines, music videos, pretty little journals, a song, a photograph, people. Many, many things.

Any significance in The Owl Diary title?
Honestly, no. I love owls. And I thought up the title one day and it just seemed to fit.

Do you have any brothers or sisters?
I have one older brother. He’s a father to my four-year-old nephew, a corrections officer and is 23 years old.

What kind of music do you listen to?
It all depends on my mood. I listen to a bit of everything. I love Dean Martin, Louie Armstrong, Ella Fitzgerald, Frank Sinatra and the like. But then I also love U2, Bryan Adams and Lynyrd Skynyrd. & I’d be content listening to John Mayer or Taylor Swift all day long. And I am absolutely in love with the Jonas Brothers to a point of obsession. It’s quite pathetic.

Favorite midnight snack?
I don’t really have one. I try not to eat after dinner.

What do you love most about your readers?
The mere fact that they took the time to stop by my blog, the kindness in their comments & each of their individual blogs as well- for sharing just a bit of their day with me.

What is your favorite book?
Eloise. I love, love, love Eloise.

Who or what influences your style?
Fashion-wise: movies, I like the way certain characters dress. Decor-wise: my mother, who should have been an interior designer, and magazines. In general my style is influenced by a bunch of little things.

Favorite place to be?
Franklin, Tennessee. I want to live there one day. & St. James Park in London. I don’t know why but I fell in love with the place. I just wanted to sit there with a coffee and baguette in hand and write in my journal and watch the people passing by for a day.

an award, you say?

I have been given an award from The Owl Diary!!! I'm supposed to write four things about myself and pass it on! This is my first little award thingi so I'm very happy and thankful. I got the award a couple days ago and I've managed to put it off because I can't think of anyone to pass it on to. haha

1. When I was a little girl I would always pray for a little sister. When my mom was finally pregnant with her she said I could name her middle name....I picked Shea. Turns out Shea means "asked for". I was 9 when she was born.

2. You probably would have never guessed but late Junior High-Early High School I was very punk. Like Sex pistols, Addicts and Buzzcocks punk. haha

3. I lived by myself in Ecuador for a whole summer and got to live like a queen. My room was larger than my parents room. I had my own bathroom and I woke up when ever I wanted, had breakfast made for me and I would just go on a taxi and explore the city. This was ( I think ) my sophomore year going into junior year.

4. I feel so connected to mountains, forests and babbling brooks; I dream about them daily. But I have never touched snow nor gone camping but I hope to soon.

I am going to pass this award onto:

my baby

Even though it is 12:30 in the morning and I should be in bed because I have a lot to do tomorrow..........I'm so happy!!! If you didn't know: I love dogs. I have two at home but this my baby ( ssshhh he's my favorite ) German Shep/Rottie mix! His name is Brawley and he is the love of my life. I love taking naps with him and cuddling and he is so sweet, gentle and kind..he's like a huge Teddy Bear. We rescued him a few years back from a shelter. He was left abandoned outside..his owners just packed and moved with out his knowledge I suppose. But this big guy definitely lives like a King now and the poor guy won't step foot outside the front door.

I'm also very happy because I'm trying out a new college group tomorrow and my fellow friend and blogger Krissie gave me an award for my blog! I'm supposed to write four things about myself but I shall do that tomorrow ( or should I say in a few hours ) when I'm not so tired. Thank you for those who are starting to read my blog. I didn't expect this to happen...I started it as a creative tool and just to write or post pictures when I'm bored; but I've come along a few friends and I'm so blessed.
Sorry this is so long! haha

The library

I had a very pleasant afternoon at the library and around Old Town today. I was going to get The Historian so I could read along with Bookish&c but both of the copies they had were checked out. Anyhow..I ended up getting a Marie Antoinette book, a Victorian marriage/murder book and a Nancy Drew classic. After the library I walked down the street to Old Town and went to my favorite antique shop called Mrs.B's. My favorite thing today was someones High School yearbook from the late 50's. Her name was Suzy and she was gorgeous and obviously a swell girl because all of the comments in her yearbook were nice. She was in art club, music club and she head great hair! I almost felt like I too was attending Heights High School in Illinois. I love antiques and books...don't you?

my mother before her mother

She wrote for a popular Magazine in Argentina ( that is where we are from ) and she got to go to the White House and meet the President because she looked like Jacqueline Kennedy at the time. I think my Grandma is prettier though.
post script-one more week of vacation. =)

her now ( still beautiful and dressed to the nines )♥
